Apart from winning a few awards for my scintillating football skills ( Player of the Year at U10, Golden Boot at U14 for Berkhamsted Raiders CFC), I can’t say that my life has been littered with awards. Nevertheless, I’m beginning to make my mark in the BRSCC MX-5 Championship. I made it on to the podium in the B races at Cadwell Park and Oulton Park and, as the season progressed, I moved up the championship rankings. In the last two race meetings at Rockingham and Donington Park, I qualified 4th and 6th fastest in my qualifying group.
At the end of the season, I finished in 17th position overall, out of 92 drivers who participated. Not bad for a beginner. So, I was really pleased when I got a call from the BRSCC MX-5 Championship Coordinator, asking if I was coming to the end of season awards dinner. I was awarded “Rookie of the Year” and enjoyed a great evening (that didn’t end till 4:30 am) celebrating the season’s success with Ali and Nicky Bray from AB Motorsport.
So, in 2019, the only way is up. Learn from my mistakes, and push on for a top ten finish.
