AB Motorsport

I’ve selected AB Motorsport to support me in my entry into motor racing.

If you’re going to compete in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship, you’re going to need two things:

  1. An aspiring race driver with a greed for speed. That’s me.
  2. A competitive car. That’s where AB Motorsport come in!

Once I decided to enter the 2018 race series, I then had to decide how I was going to run and maintain a race car. I can tell one end of a spanner from the other (just about… the Audi training scheme is pretty good on this stuff). My track day support mechanic (Dad), has done a reasonable job of replacing the brake pads (plenty of practice with the way that I’ve been driving) and providing general maintenance. But he’s learnt most of it from YouTube videos.

So, I had to go out and find a race team to support my ambitions. I identified a few possibles, dropped them some emails, and drew up a shortlist. Then a visit to the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship meeting at Donington enabled me to meet the teams and see which would be the best fit. AB Motorsport were the most welcoming and the most interested… plus their star driver, Oliver Allwood, was doing great in the three races, coming first in two and second in the third.

So, thanks Ali Bray and Jack Sycamore for welcoming me to the AB Motorsport team!
